Do not sent confirmation email for duplicate email
Powerful Mother
I've confirmed with support that currently, when a duplicate email is added to a list, even if it's already in subscribed status, a confirmation email still gets sent.
For our use case and many other businesses that take emails as part of a process, it would be helpful to have the option to not send a confirmation email if the submitted email is already in a list, especially if they are already subscribed. Hoping this is not too difficult and thank you for your consideration.

I agree with James Wilson, this is really disappointing and not customer friendly at all. I wanted to be able to use Mailpoet for my existing subscribers to be able to sign up for free offers when I drop them, and for new subscribers who agree to opt in to my list by filling out the sign-up form. There are better ways to comply with spam and privacy requirements than confirmation emails and the competitors to Mailpoet are already doing it. Plus, by sending a confirmation email every time, even though they are already subscribed to my list, it's like sending a message that says "I don't know who you are and you have no value to me". I love the integration Mailpoet has with my Woo Store and its security, and I wanted to love the automation upgrade I paid for, but it's just not doing the job, so I will need to look at alternatives.

Yes, this is an obvious problem with the current system. The MP team doesn't seem to understand a usage model in which there are multiple lists for the same website and customer list. We use different mailing lists for different purposes to the same customer base, based on type of communication and possibly changing membership levels. Sending confirmation emails over and over to the same user base is confusing and unwelcome - pretty much the inverse of what email confirmation is supposed to be. This has become a show-stopper for us - time to investigate alternatives to MailPoet again.

This would be a great feature. It would also prevent sending SPAM confirmation emails if someone would use someone elses email account and would keep subscribing to an email list all the time. Please if possible, stop sending confirmation emails if such email is already in the system, for example in the Trash folder.

Makes perfect sense. If the user is already in the list, they shouldn't receive another confirmation email... Maybe they should be given the option to "start over" their subscription to a list.
If the list has a welcome email or a welcome email series, then "starting over" could be what the website visitors are actually trying to do.
